Assistant Director of Training Initiatives and Academic Excellence at UNC

The Assistant Director for the Training Initiative in Biomedical and Biological Sciences (TIBBS) at UNC will be responsible for developing and directing innovative professional development programs for our 500-600 biomedical graduate students. This position has the unique opportunity to enhance recruitment of outstanding graduate students by developing an unrivalled professional and career development program. The position also includes significant academic coaching responsibilities that will enable the assistant director to use his or her teaching and mentoring skills to impact students on an individual basis.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Director will be responsible for developing and directing innovative professional development programs for our 500-600 biomedical graduate students. This position has the unique opportunity to enhance recruitment of outstanding graduate students by developing an unrivalled professional and career development program. The position also includes significant academic coaching responsibilities that will enable the assistant director to use his or her teaching and mentoring skills to impact students on an individual basis.
Education Requirements:
PhD in a life science or biomedical science field. 1 to 2 years of postdoctoral training is preferred
Qualifications and Experience:
Experienced in organizing and teaching at professional and career development events. Demonstrated success in mentoring graduate students and recruiting students for graduate school. Ability to create and implement professional development workshops showing a commitment to diversity initiatives. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, coordinate multiple deadlines simultaneously, and delegate responsibilities.
