Two Postdoc Positions at UNC-Chapel Hill

A UNC postdoctoral position in Biochemical Toxicology is available immediately to study metabolism of arsenic in human hepatocytes and to characterize kinetics of arsenic methylation by arsenic methyltransferase.

A successful candidate should have a PhD or MD degree and hands-on experience in tissue culture, protein expression systems, recombinant protein production, targeted mutagenesis, and quantitative DNA, RNA and protein analyses. Knowledge of biochemistry and toxicology of metals and metalloids or of elemental analysis is a plus.

A UNC postdoctoral position in Environmental Health and Nutrition is available immediately to study the role of diet and nutrients in the diabetogenic effects of chronic arsenic exposure.

Two lines of research are available for this position:
1. Laboratory studies using mouse models.
2. A population study in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Successful candidates should have a PhD degree in either Environmental/Nutrition Epidemiology or in Nutritional Biochemistry. Preference will be given to applicants with background in both areas and those who speak fluent Spanish.
